What is happening right now is quite incredible. We live in an age where truth is both at the same time incredibly difficult to find and inescapable. Some of you will catch that immediately. But for everyone’s sake, let me explain.
Truth oftentimes in the modern age of social media and big tech is hiding behind a veil. Especially with the rise of AI, it is hard to even grasp if the information being presented to us is even real. We know that algorithms are at work feeding us a specific worldview and working to shape our beliefs and our emotions.
Like you, I am working to understand how to navigate all of the information that is coming my way. I question everything. At this point, I have learned to take nothing at face value because of both the uncertainty of the source of the information and the motive behind the information being shared. I view everything with a political lens. Information is not shared simply for my benefit. Typically, it has an agenda. Or should I say, its source has an agenda, a purpose for putting this information in front of me.
But as hard as it might seem to be to find the truth, there is a shift happening. And I believe we are at the beginning of something new. What recently happened with Tucker Carlson’s departure from Fox News I believe cannot be understated. I believe the dam is breaking.
The lies have become so commonplace, that the distinction between what is true and what is false is becoming more and more evident to those who are willing to listen. And this is what I mean by the truth becoming inescapable.
It used to be that the lies were somewhat believable because they still carried just a hint of truth or at least something that still had a familiarity to it. In years past, the questions had not yet become as ridiculous as today’s shocking curiosity of “what is a woman.” But now here we are. And the chasm between good and evil is growing further and further apart, so much so that the truth is becoming inescapable even for those who before could not perceive it.
Because of that, people are losing faith in our institutions. And for good reason. They are actively betraying us and in turn, destroying their moral authority. We see this happening in the church. It is happening at every level of government. It is happening in our political parties. It is happening in our educational spaces. We are certainly losing faith in our medical community. Pick a sector of society and much of the blind faith that may have previously existed is now all but gone.
Many fear that this is a bad thing. They lament for our institutions. I do not.
When you hear someone like Tucker Carlson express concern that we are unable to debate topics like the rise of corporate power and also acknowledge that America is now under a one-party rule, you understand that the truth is now going mainstream. It is inescapable.
As I see it, as a nation, we replaced our faith in God with our faith in these institutions. And this is a problem as old as humanity itself. Even the Israelites who had enjoyed direct communion with God as He led the nation by His own hand, eventually asked for a king. They wanted an institution. And so, He gave them one. His name was Saul and for those of you who know the story, it did not turn out so well.
In many respects, we have repeated the same mistakes here in America and now face the consequences of rejecting the Divine providence that most certainly gave rise to the greatest symbol of liberty in human history.
America began with a reliance on God to the preservation of individual liberties secured by a Constitution meant to promote the common good realized in the benefits of the family through perseverance and faith.
But we have become a society reliant upon a centralized government to the detriment of our liberty given over to corporate interests who scheme to increase their own power, bringing destruction to the family devoid of faith and bowing to the image of their own god.
So, how do we get out of this mess? We turn. We turn away from the lies. And we turn back toward the Truth.
I continue to pray as I have since the beginning of the year, for discernment. May God give us eyes to see and ears to hear that which is true. May you gain the ability to quiet your soul and hear that still small voice. And may you have the wisdom to turn off the lies and give your ear to those who are earnestly and faithfully speaking the truth to those who will listen.
Major shifts in national media give me hope that the truth is becoming more evident.
