Urge members of the Senate State & Local Government Committee to SUPPORT SB 367 to remove non-citizens from our voter rolls and further secure the ballot.
SB 367 strengthens election integrity by ensuring that only U.S. citizens are registered to vote in Tennessee and that voter rolls are routinely maintained for accuracy. The bill requires monthly comparisons between the statewide voter registration database and state and federal records to identify and remove any non-citizens from the voter rolls. It also mandates that driver’s licenses issued to non-citizens clearly state “NOT ELIGIBLE TO VOTE” to prevent fraudulent registrations.
To further protect Tennessee elections, the bill enhances voter list maintenance by requiring quarterly address verification and allowing citizens to challenge the qualifications of registered voters they believe to be ineligible. Additionally, first-time voters who register online or by mail must vote in person for their first election, ensuring that ballot integrity is upheld.
The bill also includes security measures for ballots and voting machines, requiring all ballots to include a watermark and prohibiting the use of QR codes or barcodes for vote tabulation, ensuring that votes are counted based on human-readable selections. Additionally, optical scanners must save digital images of ballots and make them publicly available for transparency.
By implementing these measures, SB 367 ensures that Tennessee’s elections remain secure, transparent, and free from illegal votes. This bill aligns with ongoing efforts to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process and guarantees that only legally eligible voters are participating in our elections.
We strongly SUPPORT this bill and ask that you contact the members of the Senate State & Local Government Committee to vote yes on SB 367.
