Urge Tennessee members of Congress to SUPPORT the Luna Amendment, which would remove Sections 10205, 10206, and 10207, removing the pesticide liability shields from the Farm Bill.

Section 10205 gives pesticide manufacturers immunity for their products – even when people get cancer, Parkinson’s disease or infertility.  It makes an EPA label a legal shield – even when the label is a lie, based on falsified data, or outdated science.  Section 10205 will give immunity to all pesticides under FIFRA – over 57,000 pesticide products and all future pesticides. These are dangerous chemicals that need a mechanism of accountability or manufacturers won’t be incentivized to make safe products or provide informed consent on their labels.

Section 10206 preempts state law and blocks states from regulating pesticides. States have the ability to regulate pesticides for localities – so that things like no spray zones at children’s playgrounds and sports-fields can be established.   This section will REMOVE any existing laws that parents have fought for to protect their children and will strip states of their right to create further protections for their children.

Section 10207 removes safeguards that prevent pesticides from being discharged directly into streams, rivers, and watersheds. Puts the water our families drink from and our children play in at direct risk.

We strongly SUPPORT the Luna Amendment and ask that you would VOTE YES to remove these provisions that will threaten the health and fertility of American children.
