Why does the GOP continue to keep conservatives off of primary ballots?

This story is nothing new here in Tennessee. The establishment is up to their same ‘ole tricks using GOP bylaws as well as state law to protect incumbents from more conservative primary challengers.

Nate Dressel is a husband, father, small business owner (Frontier Coffee Company), Army Green Beret, and Master Sgt. in the Tennessee National Guard. Nate is also a lifelong Republican.

Yet, when challenged, Nate Dressel was removed from the Republican Primary ballot in his bid for District 10 TN State Representative.

The system is broken and everyone knows it. Yet, those in power continue to work to protect…well, those in power. HB 636 sponsored by Rep. Jody Barrett would have partially resolved this issue and allowed Mr. Dressell to still run for office in the general election as an Independent. While that bill passed the House floor, it was killed by Senate leadership. Nate’s only recourse at this point is to potentially run as a write-in candidate.

These stories are important and we hope you are paying attention. Oftentimes as voters, we wonder, “Why is no one running for office?” The fact is, they are. But they are being taken off the ballot.
