From Our Executive Director
WELCOME
A message from our Executive Director on what drives Tennessee Stands and why your involvement matters.
Welcome to Tennessee Stands!
If you are passionate about protecting our God-given rights, fighting against expansive government, and ensuring conservative values can be passed on to future generations, you are in the right place.
It is our duty, as made clear by our brilliant Founders, that the power of our government rests in the hands of the people. Our Declaration of Independence makes it clear, “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed“.
Our own state Constitution begins with, “That all power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their peace, safety, and happiness; for the advancement of those ends they have at all times, an unalienable and indefeasible right to alter, reform, or abolish the government in such manner as they may think proper.” (Article 1, Section 1, Tennessee Constitution)
In America, we the people have formed a government and continue to operate in one that depends on the citizenry to work in tandem with the representatives we elect. In order to do that, Tennessee Stands seeks to honor the words of Thomas Jefferson (1789), “Whenever the people are well informed, they can be trusted with their own government; that whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them to right.”
We will continue to educate the public on legislation, laws that support conservative values and those that do not, we will provide transparency in order for the electorate to make decisions during election years, and we will support efforts across the state which seek to ensure the laws of Nature and Nature’s God are protected.
We invite you to roll up your sleeves and stand with us.
