The bizzarro world of Tennessee’s Republican Party is embarrassing.

Many in Tennessee are finally waking up to the realization that the Republican Party you have been sold is far from the party that actually represents you at the Capitol in Nashville.

There is a natural tendency to expect that the people we send to represent us in Nashville are the best of us and represent the values of our community. But often, in my experience at least, many of these people are the absolute worst. And perhaps that is because “you” haven’t sent anyone. They have been handpicked by establishment players, funded by special interests, and selected by machines.

Some are just waking up to the story from Newschannel 5 about our Speaker of the Senate and Lt. Governor, Randy McNally out of Oak Ridge, TN.

So, I want to make sure you understand a couple of points. This guy is our Lt. Governor. That means that if something were to happen today to Governor Bill Lee, it is Randy McNally that would step in and take the reins of Governor of the State of Tennessee. Let that sink in for a moment.

Next, you should realize that this is the guy selected to be the Speaker of the Senate by 32 of his fellow Tennessee state senators. That’s right, 32 senators in this state picked this guy to lead the Senate. He is in charge of all committee appointments in our State Senate, sets the rules and the agenda, and essentially in large part determines what does and does not happen legislatively in the Senate.

Does Randy McNally sound or look like a guy fit for this kind of leadership? I always have a hard time when Republicans enjoy making fun of the fact that Joe Biden is in the White House, but unable to see the forest through the trees. Wake up Tennesseans! Look at what is going on in your own house! It is downright embarrassing.

It is worth noting that the same Randy McNally who likes to tell young, naked, gay men on Instagram how good they look and how much “rainbows and sunshine” they bring into his life, is the same Randy McNally that….

  • Leads the Senate Republican Caucus.
  • Appointed Tom Lawless to the Tennessee Registry of Election Finance.
  • Directed Tom Lawless to illegally begin an audit of Gary Humble’s senate campaign.
  • Used his PAC (the MCPAC) to illegally coordinate with Jack Johnson’s campaign advisor, Ward Baker, to attack Gary Humble during a Republican Primary.
  • Built a website, ran (4) ad campaigns, and sent (4) mailers throughout Senate District 27 claiming that Gary Humble was “dangerous” and “wrong for Williamson County.”

Of course, the message has been for quite some time that Tennessee Stands only exists to destroy the Republican Party. We have been accused over and over again by media and even the Chair of the TN GOP, Scott Golden, to be divisive and an agent working against the good of the party.

The truth? The party is destroying itself because it is no longer concerned with the character of the men and women who lead it.

Speaking of character, I will leave you with Ted Boyatt.

Remember the story that broke some months back in the Tennessee Conservative News where the Republican Party cancelled a speaking engagement in Blount County for Gary Humble due to concerns raised by a person named Ted Boyatt? The indictment was that Mr. Humble was not really a Republican, a divisive figure, and there were concerns about giving “an audience to such repugnant behavior is an affront to the hard work of all of the dedicated volunteers and Republican activists.”

What many people did not know at the time was who Ted Boyatt really was.

  • 2009-2013 Vice Chair of Blount County GOP
  • 2014 Ran a re-election campaign for Rep. Glen Casada
  • 2016 Lobbyist for 50CAN and Students First PAC
  • 2017 Lobbyist for Tennessee Chamber of Commerce
  • 2018 Ran election campaign for Rep. Sam Whitson
  • 2022 Hired by Speaker Cameron Sexton as a Research Analyst for the House (currently working in the Transportation Subcommittee under Chairman Sam Whitson).

Does Ted sound like just an everyday concerned citizen to you? And please excuse the insane perversion of what you are about to see and the mountain of expletives. This is Ted.

Now you might be thinking, how is it that a boy like that holds all of these positions with organizations that are supposed to be conservative and run campaigns for men who purport to be conservatives and Christ followers?

And that is when you realize that being a Republican in Tennessee has nothing to do with character, principle, values, or anything of the sort. At least, not under its current leadership.

Knowing all of this, Speaker Cameron Sexton hired this guy to work in your State House. He is now paid by your tax dollars.

And one more special note for Williamson County Republicans. Your county GOP reorganization convention is coming up on March 30th in Franklin, TN. There is a Contest and Credentials Committee that will decide whether or not you are a bonafide Republican and whether or not you deserve the privilege of voting in the convention.

And guess who Scott Golden and Chairwoman Cheryl Brown appointed as the County Party Mass Convention Chair? You guessed it.

Ted Boyatt.
