Who’s Funding Tennessee’s Next Governor? Part one.

Stand for Health Freedom released a voter guide for the three gubernatorial candidates this week. They revealed that Senator Marsha Blackburn has only received 22% of her donations from within Tennessee. She has received $6.7 million in donations, has not put in any of her own money and has received $454,200 from 44 PACs.

Representative Monty Fritts has received all 100% of his donations from within Tennessee.  He’s received $167,300 from donations, has put in $26,000 of his own money and has received $22,000 from two PACs.

Congressman John Rose has received 92% of his donations from inside Tennessee. He has received $1.6 million in donations, has loaned himself $5 million, and has received $102,100 from 8 PACs.

Two of our candidates have the vast majority of their campaign contributions coming directly from our state. This begs the question, who are the donors and PACs behind such a large amount of money coming in from out of our state for Senator Blackburn’s campaign.

Here is a breakdown of some of those donors and where they are located:

Khosla Ventures, $7,000, California

https://www.khoslaventures.com/

Based out of California, Khosla Ventures seeks to help drive entrepreneurs to reach their goals, especially in the AI market. They promote the idea of “Racing to Utopia”, with phrases like “meat from plants”, “microbots for the human body”, and “rapid testing for emergency healthcare”.

On June 25, 2022, the organization made the following post on X:

Yesterday was a dark day in the history of our country.

Fighting for our freedoms requires getting involved and voting the right people into office so we never have to live through a day like June 24, 2022 again.

9:16 PM · Jun 25, 2022

The day before this post was made, June 24, 2022, Roe v. Wade was over-turned and abortion was no longer a federally protected choice for women.

A company who is based in California, promotes a utopia where we can make our meat out of plants and insert micro-robots into our bodies, and who calls the day where life was protected and rights were given back to the states, has maxed out their campaign contributions to our Senator.

In terms of hiring and employment, their “mission is to create a culture and environment where every customer, associate and stakeholder, no matter what race, age, ability, gender, affiliation, or any other aspect of their identity can benefit from our fair, equitable and inclusive practices.”

Winklevoss Capital Management looks to invest in entrepreneurs specifically in the following domains: “Crypto, Space, Energy and Bio”.

In terms of individual contributions, Senator Blackburn has received more donations from people in Texas than in Tennessee. Here is the breakdown of her top three contributing states:

Texas: $524,460.12

Tennessee: $492,980.59

California: $464,736.33

Due to the Citizens United court case, the rise of campaign contributions and Super PACs is rampant and because the power which money gives us is a sin almost no man can out-run, our elections are no longer based on choosing the candidate which most aligns with our values. Our election process has been infiltrated by corruption and greed, bought by whomever has the most to give.

As conservatives, we fight for principle, even if based on that principle, we disagree with the outcome. Elections should be won based on honesty, with voters given the opportunity to hear from their candidates in order to choose who will best represent them.

If you’d like to see all of Senator Blackburn’s campaign contributions, you can go to the Federal Election Commission or her page on OpenSecrets.org.

Next week, we’ll take a look at Congressman John Rose’s campaign finances and see who is funding his run for Governor of Tennessee.
